The Mira - Durian Extravaganza: The Golden Era of Nyonya (13-15, 21-26 July)

Join an extraordinary event staged in collaboration with Tourism Malaysia and Miramar Travel that—over the course of a few days this summer—will see more than one tonne of fresh Malaysian durian opened at The Mira's penthouse Ballroom! Following the sold-out success of last year’s event, this season’s edition offers even wilder selection of fresh durian, more mouth-watering and aromatic Malaysian cuisine specialties, and highly entertaining program! It is not only one of the city’s largest durian tasting events but also a cultural extravaganza that blends tradition with innovation!

1. Freshly Open Durian Theatre:
   Join us as we showcase an unprecedented variety of freshly picked durians, fully ripened on the trees and delivered to Hong Kong on the same day, then opened for you at their peak taste within 36 hours from the moment of harvest at our network of durian farms in Pahang (Raub), Johor, and Kelantan.
    
2. Premium Tasting Platter: 
   Indulge in a premium durian tasting platter of 5 curated types, including Black Thorn, Musang King, and 3 more mystery varieties selected from a curated lineup of 10 premium types that consistently command the highest prices or are rarely found, from D160 Tekka dubbed the Musang Queen to D214 Tupai King and silky smooth D198 Golden Phoenix, each night presents an opportunity to try something new! 3. All You Can Eat Freshly Opened Durian:
   
   Then, feast on an unlimited selection of at least 8 types of freshly opened Malaysian durians*, handpicked by our experts, who will guide you in identifying your preferred profiles and selecting each fruit at its finest expression. Each night presents an opportunity to discover strikingly different durians from a seasonal selection of 20 varieties — from sweet, creamy, and delicate to bitter-sweet, rich, and intensely pungent.
   
   Among the all-you-can-eat offerings, you may encounter crowd favorites such as D13 Golden Bun, D24 Sultan, X.O, D101 Mas, milky Susu, D1 GangHai, and D2 Dato Nina for a touch of nostalgia, alongside prized Black Pearl from Johor, buttery D145 Hijau Besera with floral notes and a lingering finish, or rare Penang-origin varieties such as bold, orange-fleshed Marangang and the sticky, old-tree cultivar Tang Lai.
   
   To heighten the anticipation, the nightly durian selection will be revealed only each evening.

4. Nyonya Heritage Specials: (See the Menu)
   During this richly layered experience, you’ll savor more than 10 authentic Nyonya specialties curated by The Mira’s culinary team, including Otak Otak (leaf-wrapped fish parcels), Udang Masak Lemak Nenas (pineapple curry prawns), Asam Fish (spicy sour tamarind fish), Ayam Pongteh (Nyonya chicken stew), Asam Laksa (spicy & sour rice noodle soup), Mee Siam Goreng (rich stir-fried rice noodles), and the iconic Bak Kut Teh (pork rib broth).
   
   Round off your feast with 10 vibrantly colored sweets, from pandan-infused Kuih Koci (coconut palm sugar rice parcels wrapped in banana leaves) and tortoise-shaped Nyonya Ang Ku Kueh (steamed glutinous rice cakes filled with sweet mung bean paste) to delicate Onde Onde rice dumplings. Have fun creating your own Ais Kacang (shaved ice with sweet condiments) at the live station, plus enjoy durian mochi and durian chocolate fountain, alongside a variety of seasonal tropical fruits such as rambutan, mangosteen, jackfruit, and cempedak.
    
5. Cultural & Celebrity Entertainment:
   Don’t miss the Malaysian Prince of Dolphin Voice, Rax Teh, returning to the stage on the opening night (Jul 13 only) with a heart-throbbing live performance, alongside Malaysian dancers and popular stand-up comedian Monkey D, who will entertain the crowd as MC during the first three nights (Jul 13 - 15)
    
6. Durian Live Auction:
   To heighten the excitement, each evening offers the opportunity to bid on unique and specialty durians to take home or enjoy freshly opened at The Ballroom.
